COMMON REPAIRS

01

Strap Repair & Replacement

Repair or replacement may be possible depending on the strap material, attachment points, hardware, and the overall condition of the bag.

02

Zipper Repair & Replacement

Zipper sliders, pulls, stitching, or full zipper replacement may be possible depending on construction and access.

03

Stitching & Seam Repair

Loose, broken, or failed stitching can often be reinforced or replaced where the surrounding material remains strong enough to hold.

04

Leather Restoration & Conditioning

Cleaning, conditioning, appearance improvement, and restoration depend on the type and current condition of the leather.

05

Hardware Repair

Buckles, rings, clips, fasteners, and other hardware may sometimes be repaired or replaced where compatible components are available.

06

Bag & Luggage Repair

Purses, handbags, duffel bags, backpacks, wallets, belts, luggage, and similar items can be evaluated for practical repair.

STRAPS & HANDLES

THE FAILURE IS OFTEN WHERE THE WEIGHT IS CARRIED.

Straps, handles, and attachment points take repeated stress. Over time that stress shows up in worn stitching, cracked or split material, pulled hardware, and weakened connections to the bag body.

Depending on the construction, repair may involve reinforcing the attachment point, restitching a failed seam, replacing damaged material, or rebuilding a strap where a suitable replacement can be sourced.

Badly deteriorated surrounding material can limit what can safely be done. If the leather or fabric around the attachment point has broken down significantly, there may not be enough sound material to anchor a durable repair. We’ll assess that before recommending anything.

ZIPPERS

A BROKEN ZIPPER DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN A BROKEN BAG.

Zipper problems can come from a damaged slider, a missing or broken pull, failed stitching holding the zipper tape, damage to the tape itself, or worn teeth that won’t properly engage. Each of these has a different repair path.

Some problems can be resolved by replacing just the slider or pull without touching the rest of the zipper. Others require replacing the full zipper assembly. Access to the construction determines how straightforward the work can be.

An in-shop evaluation is the best way to determine what makes sense for a specific bag.

MATERIAL REALITY

REAL LEATHER AND SYNTHETIC MATERIALS AGE DIFFERENTLY.

Genuine leather can often be conditioned, reinforced, stitched, and restored depending on its current condition. Well-maintained leather can last decades and typically responds well to repair even after significant use.

Synthetic and faux leather materials age differently. They may peel, crack, flake, or separate from their backing. Once that deterioration has progressed, traditional leather repair methods may not produce a durable or visually acceptable result.

Some synthetic-material failures cannot be repaired in a way we can confidently stand behind. We’ll be direct about that when we evaluate your item.

DESIGNER & SENTIMENTAL ITEMS

SOME THINGS ARE WORTH REPAIRING FOR MORE THAN THEIR PRICE TAG.

Customers bring us designer bags and high-end leather goods. They also bring us the everyday bag a parent carried for twenty years, a wallet worn thin from use, a duffel bag that’s been on every trip.

Whether the piece has significant market value or personal meaning, our evaluation focuses on the same things: material condition, construction quality, the nature of the damage, and whether a repair will hold up and look acceptable.

We assess items based on what’s there and what can reasonably be done with it — not by brand name.
